Not everyone can be an honorary consul. Why do you think that being the honorary consul of Slovenia in Atlanta is important?Atlanta is an international city and a gateway to the United States with the world’s busiest airport, and is the capital of Georgia. It is the home of Coca-Cola, Delta Airlines, UPS, CNN, the Georgia Institute of Technology, Emory University, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It also is the location of an affiliate office of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and there is an EU Center for Advance Studies. Atlanta also has 60 consular offices covering the southeastern United States. 15 career consuls General and 45 honorary consuls. I feel it is important for Slovenia to have a presence here and I am proud to represent the country. How are you promoting Slovenia?I promote Slovenia by attending as many consular corps functions as possible, lecturing about the country in schools and universities, attending city and state functions, answering any and all questions that arise What are your future plans that include cooperation between Slovenia and Atlanta?I am hoping I can find and build real relationships in cultural and business exchanges, with various institutions and organizations. From where such a big love for Slovenia that you decided to invest your time, energy, and never less money?I started traveling to Slovenia on business in 1980. I would sometimes make four trips a year. The beauty of the country, and the friendliness and warmth of the people were very genuine. When Slovenia became an independent country, I mentioned to my Slovene colleague that I would like to help Slovenia. By being an honorary consul, I can help promote the country in a variety of ways. Some of his rewards: - Professional Achievement Award Shelby Williams Industries, - Outstanding Young Man of America, America Jaycees.
