Collinwood Home, KSKJ #169 Host Day at the Races Nov. 15

Most of us don't ever make it down to the race track, but on Sunday, November 15, the track is coming to Collinwood Slovenian Home on Holmes Avenue in Cleveland.

Collinwood Slovenian Home and St. Joseph Lodge 169 of KSKJ Life are sponsoring a Day at the Races at the Home, where races will be shown on a big screen and people can bet on the horses.

Doors open at 2:00 and races begin about an hour later. There will be 10 races shown. Bets are $2 each for those who wish to wager, and there will be two daily doubles.

The admission fee of $6 covers food, soft drinks, and beer, as well as a chance at door prizes. Stronger libations also will be for sale.

Individual horses may also be purchased by October 23 for $10. Also, each race needs a sponsor ($20). Call the Slovenian Home club room at (216) 681-6649 for more information on availability.

This event is a KSKJ Life Matching Funds fund-raiser for St. Joseph #169. KSKJ Life will match up to $1,000 for each dollar of profit raised at the event. Proceeds will be used for resurfacing the parking lot at the Home.

All members of the Collinwood Slovenian Home, KSKJ members, and friends are invited to spend this afternoon on November 15 amidst the excitement of a racetrack atmosphere right in the middle of the old neighborhood. It will be an opportunity to meet up with old friends and to support one of our Slovenian institutions that we, our parents, and grandparents have grown up with.
